Instore Kiosk

All 660 colours, on one screen

Our custom built A&L Kiosk touchscreen in store with Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Mylands side by side, which is not something you can do in many places. Build a list as you browse, then send it to the counter or to yourself and carry on at home.

What it is for

Choosing a colour is the enjoyable part. The awkward parts are either side of it: working out what a shade is called when all you have is a photograph, guessing how much to buy, and deciding whether you want matt, eggshell or something in between. The screen is there for those.

It is not a till, and it is not a catalogue you have to sign into. Walk up, use it, and it clears itself for the next person.

What it will not do

It will not tell you a colour is a match when it is not. We stock all three brands, so when somebody asks whether their Farrow & Ball grey can be had in Little Greene, the screen looks properly and answers honestly, including when the answer is no.

It will not pretend a screen is a paint sample either. Every colour on it carries the same note: screens shift colour, and this one is no exception. Every shade is on a real Brush Board in the shop, and that is the one to hold against your wall.

Six things you can do on it

Look through every colour

All three brands, searchable by name, number or colour family, and filterable down to the greens or the off-whites when you do not yet know what you are after.

Match a colour from a photo

Send a photo from your phone to the screen, of a room, a fabric, a favourite mug, and it will find the nearest shades we actually have on the shelf.

Find the same colour in another brand

Open any colour and it shows the closest thing the other two makers do, with how close it really is. If nothing is close, it says so rather than offering a near miss.

Work out how much you need

Give it the room and the number of coats and it will get you close on litres and tin sizes, for paint or for wallpaper rolls.

See what each finish is for

Matt, eggshell, satin or gloss, what each brand calls theirs, how much they shine and which surfaces they suit, all in one place.

Take your list with you

Send it to the counter, or have it emailed to you with a reference number. Bring the reference back and the screen picks up where you left off.

It keeps nothing. Your list stays on that screen until you send it somewhere or the session ends, and then it clears for the next person. There is no account, and we do not ask for your name or address unless you choose to email the list to yourself.

Come and have a go

You are welcome to use it whether or not you are buying anything today, and somebody is always at the counter if you would rather just ask.
